Twilight Harbringer, finally!

One of the great things about my new guild is their weekend achievement runs! Since I quit raiding during Cataclysm one of the things I've missed most is not the raiding itself but the atmosphere, comradely and friendship. The achievement runs my guild does during the weekend feels very much how raiding used to feel but without that little bit of added stress. The guild I used to raid with never took things too seriously during our raids and there was always a lot of banter between fights.

Last weekend I finally got something I'd wanted for a while but had never gotten around to doing since I stopped raiding right after we had cleared normal DS! I just didn't have the patience to continue raiding DS heroic as it was one of my least favorite raids. Reins of the Twilight Harbringer from the Glory of the Dragon Soul Raider achievement.

He's fucking glorious!

Twilight Harbringer.
The next post in the 20 Days of WoW blogging challenge asks "10 things we don't know about you" This ones got me stumped a little so I'll happily accept questions if you have any! Could make it a bit more interesting. Feel free to DM me on twitter if you don't feel comfortable leaving a comment.

Are there any achievement mounts you've got your eye on?

The ups and downs of having a bit too much gold.

Blizzard have thrown a bit of a spanner in the works this week offering 50% off of some of their services. This could be my opportunity to get off of my quiet server and actually meet people.  The biggest problem in transferring is the 50 thousand gold limit. First world problems, I know, right?

When moving from a small server to a larger server it's often difficult to find items which will retain there value when you get to the other side. Coming from a smaller server also means there are fewer things to buy. There are no TCG mounts on my AH no crafted mounts either.

There is currently no Living Steel. Not a single cut or uncut Primordial Ruby nor any Sha Crystals! Of course this isn't a typical representation of my server but it is typical of my luck when I need something!

Yesterday I started out with 900 thousand gold. After buying a few things, crafting a few mounts and splurging on some over priced pets I'm almost down to goal of 100 thousand gold. I'm transferring two characters and after I do I won't likely return to the serve. My alts will become completely abandoned and I'll start over again on my new server. The gold limit on transfers is 50 thousand per character.

In an attempt to get rid of some of my gold I bought my Boyfriend and I both a Grand Expedition Yak. 108k Each with guild perks

I have been meaning to buy one for a while just for the achievement but I never seemed to get around to it. That's one bonus to having a fair amount of gold to play with. Being able to treat other people. Sadly I have no other friends on the server so I had no one else to off load some on!

I bought a pet off of a Mage in trade he was asking for 6k saying that he was selling it cheap because he was desperate for the gold to buy his epic flying and no one else would buy the pet. So I gave him 10k for it. In retrospect I should have given him more.

I feel a bit shady just randomly trading gold to people. I don't want Blizzard to ban me or the recipient thinking either of us is buying or selling gold.

Have you ever transferred server having a bit too much gold? How did you get around it? Have you taken advantage of the 50% off of services at the moment?

Edit:

Depleted-Kyparium Rocket.
I bought myself a Depleted-Kyparium Rocket for 99k because, fucking cannons man. Fucking cannons.

Armored Bloodwing.

Last week WowProfitz started his own Cotton Candy Screenshot Competition. I decided to enter with one of my favourite screenshots which I'd taken a while ago. Lo and behold I won! I was given the option of three prizes and I chose the Armored Bloodwing mount. The second I saw Blizzard release this mount I knew I wanted it having always been a bit of a spooky kid! The Undercity is my favorite city and I've always wanted a bat mount. Sadly it wasn't something I was willing to pay for so winning it makes it even sweeter!

You can view the screenshot and winning post here!

Armored Bloodwing - Also now known as Profitz.

Bloodwing Transmog.
Of course no new mount is complete without a new matching transmog, right? I decided to go with this robe from around T10 content from Justice Points as it's similar to that of Blood-Queen Lana'thel. I bet she'd ride a Armored Bloodwing if she could.

Robe - Meteor Chaser's Raiment
Belt - Belt of Omission
Staff - Suen-Wo, Spire of the Falling Sun
Gloves - Heroe's Gloves of Faith
Shoulders - Malevolent Gladiator's Mooncloth Mantle

While I imagine that I only won because I was the only entry what we're going to do is pretend that there were at least 4000 other entries. We're also going to pretend that Korla was added to the Dedication of Honor statue in Dalaran for her contribution to the competition. Statues of Korla should soon start appearing all of Azeroth. Look out for one in a city near you!

Clearly part of this statue.

Black Market auction house - Fiery Warhorse.

The Black Market Auction House got me again! I blogged two weeks ago about having bought myself an Onyxian Drake from the BMAH. This week a Fiery Warhorse showed up and I just couldn't resist the urge to bid on it. I decided pretty early on that I wasn't going to spend any more than 100k. I started to bid while it was on short (between 30 mins and 2 hours) and someone started to counter my bids! However I did notice that he had to keep running to the mailbox before placing another bid. My idea of limiting myself went out the window. I felt this fierce sense of competition. I wanted to win the auction no matter what. Betting that I likely had more gold than him we both kept bidding. Eventually he stopped and I won the mount for 95k. Boy was it exciting!

Fiery Warhorse.

Headless Horseman's Mount.
These are pretty much two perfect Warlock mounts which is I think why I've started to level mine. She's currently Eighty Eight but I've just ran out of rested xp so I'm going to take a break and focus on something else for a bit.

Believing my own lies finally cost me 92k - Onyxian Drake.

For as long as I can remember I've lied to myself about things I'm going to do in WoW. I don't lie on purpose. It's not a lie when I say it. I just get really distracted and I'm pretty forgetful. That right there is also a lie. I know damn well it's a lie when I say it. I know I'll never follow though!

When Blizzard announced account wide mounts and pets I was stoked. I've always had to obtain mounts and pets on my Priest. I was gutted when I got Reins of the blue drake on my Druid from Occulus during Wrath of the Lich King. I hated doing raids or instances that had a chance to drop a mount on any character besides Korla just in case! However once the account wide announcement came it meant I could do those instances on any character and ultimately it wouldn't matter.

Here are some of the mount related lies I've often told myself;

I'll do Onyxia every week on at least three characters - Haven't done it once.
I'll do ZG HC on my Hunter every day for both mounts - Did it for three days then never went back despite loving that Panther!
I'll do Kara on at least five characters per week. (I have around 30 capable of Soloing Attune) - I did it for the first two weeks then stopped.
I'll do Stonecore normal five times until I get locked out every so often - Stone-what? Stone-where? Yeah I've never done that either.

On Monday night after tending to my crops I ventured over to the Black Market auction house as I often do if I'm in Valley of the four winds. To my surprise there was an Onyxian Drake. I've never seen one of these on the BMAH. As it was on a very long bidding and knowing it'd still be there in the morning I decided to go to bed and check on it when I woke up. By Tuesday morning the price hadn't moved much so I placed a bid and went offline, when I returned I'd been outbid but the auction was now on between thirty minutes and two hours I decided to bid again and spent the next two hours leveling six battle pets to twenty five around the BMAH area.

I won the mount in the end for ninety two thousand.

This gives me something I won't do to cross off of my "I might do" list and I've made the gold back since then. So my Warrior gets to enjoy a new mount!
Onyxian Drake - 92k gold worth of lazy!
Have you bought anything off of the Black Market auction house? Ours rarely seems to have anything of much interest on it. I'd love to see an Ashes of Al'ar but that's another thing I promise to farm every week and then don't! Are you good at sticking to your own plans?

Vanilla battle pets, mounts and achievements!

I've had such a fantastic week in WoW! A friend I mentioned in an earlier post about my favourite WoW memory started playing again! When he logged into game I had to do a double take. He had stopped playing at the beginning of Cataclysm due to starting university I've been leveling my eighty five horde Warrior along side his Rogue. I haven't seen Mists of Pandaria from the Horde perspective yet so I've been really enjoying it.

Patch 5.1 introduced a whole load of changes to the pet battle interface as well as a new pets to collect! Along with the change came twelve new pets which have a chance to drop off of level sixty Vanilla raid bosses in Molten core, Blackwing Lair, Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ40) and Naxxramas. While Naxxramas is a level eighty raid it was originally a Vanilla raid. You can find a list of the pets and their respective bosses on Warcraftpets. Each of the bosses have received some tweaks to make them soloable although some still require a little bit of patience, skill and knowing the tactics.

While in Ahn'Qiraj hunting down the pets I was lucky enough to come across a Red Qiraji Resonating Crystal from some trash mobs. A mount I've tried to farm with no luck on multiple occasions. Obtaining this mount nets you the Feat of Strengh Why? because it's red. I then proceeded to loot another two within a few hours on other Alts. It seems that the drop rate on this mount has been significantly increased whether intentional or not remains to be seen. Now might be a great time to go snag yourself one just in case it's been an accidental change!

Why? Because it's Red.

I finally hit Exalted with the Golden lotus! I plan on never doing any of those daily quests again for as long as I live. I'm not even sure why I loathe them so much they're not exactly hard quests but I have been putting them off most days. I also hit 60 Exalted reputations! I already know which ten I'm missing and I plan to remedy that as quickly as daily resets allow!

60 Exalted Reputations!

The icing on the cake was finally finishing off my Glory of the Firelands Raider achievement. I had been missing two parts of the Do a Barrel Roll achievement for such a long time. The achievement requires you to kill Alysrazor in the Firelands raid without any members of the raid being hit by several of her abilitys. Thankfully you don't have to do all parts of the achievement in one fight.

By finishing off the achievement I also completed the Meta and was rewarded my Corrupted Fire Hawk which I think might be my favourite flying mount in game!

Corrupted Fire Hawk.
I'm one mount short of hitting 150 mounts. I haven't crafted any of the Jewelcrafting or Engineering mounts yet. Or reached Exalted with Shadow Pan, Anglers or August Celestials which I know all reward mounts.

How has your week been? What's on your to do list for the upcoming week? Have you tried soloing the old Vanilla raids yet for the new pets?

Exalted with The Order of the Cloud Serpents

This week I've been slacking, slacking with a capital SLACKING. Wait, scratch that I've been slacking since Mists of Pandaria was released this week has been no real exception. I'm usually pretty reputation focused but so far I've been neglecting my daily's most days! I got Tillers to Exalted pretty quickly on my main, deciding to work mostly on one faction at a time. I'm slowly working my way though Golden Lotus, Shadow-Pan and August Celestials but only every couple of days. My Paladin and Hunter are both Revered with Tillers and my Hunter is slowly gaining Golden Lotus reputation for Leather working patterns.

During Pilgrim's Bounty if you eat five of each food at the bountiful table outside the capital cities you get a buff called Spirit of Sharing. With this added incentive I decided to finish off my Order of the Cloud Serpent grind. I hadn't been farming eggs or doing the profession quests because I'm super lazy and I hate archeology with a passion but I knuckled down and did all of my quests after handing them in..

Wait... what?
You can't actually be serious? Are you serious? You are aren't you?

So with that wonderful experience behind me I went out egg hunting. Until this point I hadn't bothered looking for the Onyx Eggs but I came across a few and handed them in and finally got my Cloud Serpent! I'm a little sad that you can't ride them on other characters as I bought the other two colours and was hoping to use a different one on my Hunter and Paladin. Oh well, Korla worked for them so I guess it's only fair that she's the only one that gets to use them!

I decided to treat myself.

I recently wrote about my daily gold making routine. People make gold in Wow for various reasons and there are different types of players who make gold.

I started making gold out of necessity when I wanted to complete the Insane in the Membrane feat of strength. After I got my title I continued to play the auction house because I enjoyed it. I enjoyed sitting on a pile of gold knowing I could buy anything I wanted. I treated friends and my other half to presents over the years. I gave away six Vial of the Sands, I've paid around two-three hundred thousand gold for my boyfriend to gear up multiple characters. I've given away several Mechano hogs because while it's nice to look at that sexy total of gold it's nicer to make friends smile.

This week however I decided to treat myself to something I've wanted for as long as I can remember. I knew at some point I'd buy one I had just never gotten around to it until now. With Mists of Pandaria introducing account wide mounts and the fact that characters will be grounded until level 90 I figured now was the ideal time to pick one up. I think I deserved it.

While the epic was only a little bit extra I don't like the leg armour on it. So I went for the normal version.
LJFDJALKFJAFJLS!!1 I can't tell you how much I love this mount.

If you're a gold maker have you ever bought anything you really wanted in Wow? Do you prefer to hold onto your gold instead? Even if you're not a gold maker what would you love to be able to buy yourself?
